The Gift of Cannabis: How It’s Helping Seniors Diminish Pain, Anxiety and More
Long ago, cannabis/marijuana was considered a helpful source of beneficial medication – until its reputation was hijacked in the 1960s as a taboo recreational drug that could lead to many societal ills, from the “munchies” to “reefer madness.”
Happily, times have changed, and the numerous benefits of cannabis are now being explored by science and medicine, and put to good use in precise ways – and in particular for the many health challenges seniors encounter.
Our speaker, Rebecca Byars, COO of the newly-launched consulting business Radicle Health in Walnut Creek, will offer a “Cannabinoid Therapeutics 101” session for the next Diablo Valley Village Lunch ‘N’ Learn. She’ll cover such topics as:
- A brief review of the history of cannabis medicine and prohibition
- An explanation of the endocannabinoid system and cannabinoid receptors in the body
- The different components of cannabis and how they impact the human body
- Routes of administration
- Clinical implications of treating with cannabis for conditions such as pain, sleep, neurological conditions, and anxiety
- Common myths associated with cannabis
- The difference between recreational and medical cannabis, and how to obtain cannabis products
