Mountain Shadow Film Society brings the best in new release foreign and independent films that are otherwise unavailable in our area. These are films that are often available in San Francisco or Berkeley but never reach our locale. We screen one selection five times each month in the Walnut Creek downtown library to an audience of 100-150 attendees for each show.
In January we have a Mountain Shadow exclusive, never before released in the US! In this inspirational biopic, young German painter Paula Modersohn-Becker is determined to make her own rules in her turn-of-the-20th-century world. Rejecting convention, she explores her own artistic style, as part of the early expressionist movement. The headstrong artist travels alone to modern Paris, with others, including poet Rainer Maria Rilke.
Biography-Drama • 123 min. • In German & French, with English subtitles.
