Chair Yoga with Barbara Papini by Zoom
Lamorinda Village presents chair yoga —an opportunity to practice stretches and poses that bring flexibility, strength, and balance to our lives. Classes are led by Barbara Papini, an experienced instructor who loves working with older adults. Papini has taught Hatha yoga in the Bay Area for over 30 years. She encourages her students to go at their own pace, one step at a time, developing awareness.
Everything is done either sitting in or standing near your chair. It is best to have a straight backed chair with no arms or wheels. If your computer chair is not like that, you can still join in, but be aware and safe.
Yoga is enhanced by the use of props. You can purchase a foam block and belt from Target or order on Amazon for a reasonable price. Thera bands can be useful. There are props available to borrow from Barbara. An LV volunteer can deliver to you if you call the office. Barbara will show all poses with a variety of options. Those new to the practice of yoga and those who have previously experienced yoga are welcome. We will begin and end with quiet breathing awareness. We practice together with courage and caution.
Chair Yoga is for Members but anyone who would like to check it out is welcome.
