Where: Lafayette Library and Learning Center at Community Hall
Friends of the Lafayette Library Wonders of the World lecture series presents independent art lecturer and museum docent Avril Angevine, who traces the creative link between one of the Bay Area's favorite artists, Richard Diebenkorn, with the early modern master Henri Matisse. Matisse's subjects, compositional strategies, palette, and techniques had a great impact on Diebenkorn - visible in his early Berkeley works, his figurative period, and his Ocean Park canvases of the 1980's. This lecture complements the Matisse/Diebenkorn exhibit at SFMOMA through May 29, 2017.
