This presentation will explore the impact of music on the brain, including its positive effects on the memory and mood of individuals with memory loss. It will also expand on music’s role in reducing anxiety and enhancing memory and concentration. Lastly, it will introduce the free Music for Memory platform, which provides a collection of free, easy-to-access playlists for caregivers of memory-impaired seniors to improve both patient and caregiver well-being and quality of life.

Presenter Asha Spitzer is a student passionate about science and history who has lived in Lamorinda her whole life. She loves music and plays the piano and tenor saxophone. She serves as the secretary on the Lafayette City Council Youth Services Commission. She is enthusiastic about making online services and apps, such as Spotify, more accessible to senior populations.
